Music to my eyes!

After many rehearsals, 'bring-your-own' instrument tram trips (one involving the mistaken identity of a double bass for a giant tennis racket?) and a collective case of square eyes caused from some serious screen squinting, 3 Shades Black a group of classical musicians craftily composed Moving Scores, as a part of the Melbourne Fringe Festival.

Intended to engage both the ear and eye, the heart and mind, cinematic art put together by independent film makers was cleverly constructed as exploratory music. With the choice of interpretation being completely up to the performers, and in turn the audience, images of Beijing architecture, hard rubbish piles, seahorses and the rising moon took on sounds never heard before.

Shamefully, I haven't practiced a musical instrument since tooting 'hot cross buns' on the recorder! Thankfully, I can nonetheless appreciate melodies that recite like music to my eyes!
