'i've got the winter blues'

Now rest your weary head,

Sweetly sound asleep - spring time dreaming!

stand in lime

lime and ginger marmalade

Ingredients
16 large limes
6 cups water
6 cups sugar
2 teaspoons finely grated, fresh ginger

Method
Slice the limes in half lengthways, then slice each half thinly, discarding the seeds. Place in a bowl, cover with the 6 cups of water and leave to stand overnight.

Next day, pour into a saucepan and simmer for about an hour or until soft. Add the sugar and stir over high heat til dissolved.

Then, bring to the boil and boil rapidly, uncovered and without stirring (or you'll cause the sugar to crystallize) for approximately 20 minutes or til a teaspoon of jam mixture jells on a cold saucer.

Remove from heat, add ginger and stand for 10 minutes before pouring into hot jam jars and sealing.

BEAUTY PAGENT OR BATTLE FIELD?

As with fashion we can all make beauty mistakes! Here is what to avoid if you don't wish to be a "makeup victim"!

1. Blusher applied like war paint, the war is or should be over...

2. Foundation applied too quickly, it is the mask unmasked!

3. Blue eyeshadow, a wrong turn if you are going for a natural look?

4. Inexpertly applied "smokey eyes",never attempt effects you haven't mastered.

5. Glittery eyeshadow,it will only make your wrinkles sparkle!

6. Purchasing make-up in ugly containers, LOGICAL!

clutching at colour

You are the baker's daughter

Cake

He comes in late to buy an éclair.
He claims to be
a physics student on sabbatical
but you’re pretty sure
he’s a hobo on holiday.
You are the baker’s daughter.
He’s the wrong kind of boy
for a cream-puff like you
but you love his eyes,
the color of pickles,
you love his hands,
which have never kneaded anything.
When you kiss, your head fills
with Xs and Ys, not teaspoons and half-cups.
You want him to cover your kitchen
with Newton’s Second Law,
you want him to make every pie a love pie,
you want him to sneak inside your stove,
burn the gingerbread,
collapse the strudel,
change the cakes from something sweet
into slices of the forbidden –
tell-tale icing
on the lip of someone
who says they don’t eat cake
and then secretly devours it whole.

Forward 1,2,3

Born to take centre stage it is anything but unusual for me to 'jump n jive' my way through life! Hehe what a lie! But when I spotted these tap shoes at my local Salvos with a $4 permanent marker price tag it was very very usual for me to take them with me to a good home. All they need now it the metal plates on their soles to classify them as musical instruments and I'll be "dancing in the streets".

To Sir With Love

Dear Residents of 9 Hertford St,

It is with deep sympathy that we wish to inform you that we, the residents of 6 Hertford St have confiscated the basketball ring that was once a fixture in your front garden. It came to our attention, at 7am each morning that the fixture was a threat to the sanctuary as well as sanity of the surrounding neighbourhood. We understand that the ring may have provided your children with endless entertainment and physical stimulation and therefore suggest that they find a new hobby. Perhaps joining the rocking ropers - a local skipping troupe could be an option? Nonetheless, we do have a word of advice - DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE encourage your offspring to take interest in a musical instrument.

Kind thoughts,

The Upper East Side Sisterhood.

Golden Anniversary

Happy Anniversary to you and I! It appears this is my 50th blog post. Defiantly worth a toast. When I started She's Leaving Home late last year I never supposed it would soon become a mere part of my existence. And although I go through phases of being almost incognito, I do promise to never be out of operation.

And so as we raise our glasses to 50 "golden posts" I would like to thank you for your following lovelies and vowel to maintain our virtual relations until I can no longer afford to recharge my wireless.

Drink up (It tastes like Christmas cheer)

Jessie xx

the last button to button

Music: a nice note

Woah I
I got a secret
I think I’m in love with missing you
More than I’m in love with you
That’s why I go away all the time
That’s why I travel the world and roam free
There’s a time you leaving me
This is how I feel
I feel like a traveling salesman

Even though I’m a woman
Picking up my bags from the station
Standing there face to face
I’ll be lying if I did not say
I love you more and I’m missing you
That’s why I’m always away
Believe me it’s true.

Cotton soft vocals and lycrics that sound crumpled and worn. Three beautifully strange and strangely beautiful young ladies. Floating ideas which seem like no-brainers. Focus without a thought. Two hot weeks in New York City. In each other's orbits. A self titled album: Seeker Lover Keeper.
