an extra day for us to share, what a special treat. mark it with a cross and be sure to make it count! rain, hail or shine i'm thanking my lucky stars. 24 hrs more than before... means indefinite time for sweet potato salad, cups of instant coffee and crosswords. 29 is by far the best day of the second month don't you think?! jessie x 

dips under a disco ball

if not sitting tall in anticipation for the next song and its pickings or hand holding in the corner, little ladies with polished ponytails and pointed toes were sashayed around the dance floor by whiskered men (of the gentle sort) at the viewing of Orla Kiely's Autumn 2012 collection. guests of London Fashion Week were treated to a 60's inspired soiree bedazzled with sequins, lurex and velvet. as in the photographs by Kris Atomic, I can't help but wish-wish-wish for a pair of metallic dancing shoes and a boy/man to lead me by the hand as we sidestep entangled to a beat of our own...

the woods are lovely, dark and deep

branches breaking beneath tinkering feet hair tousled and pinned in spots invisible in the mirror, it's no wonder i continue to be charmed and delighted by the lovely nadinoo. the collection of dreamy printed dresses, silky blouses and draped skirts can be admired via this darling video played out amongst the sounds of the woods. it doesn't matter the least that i'm locked inside fan sweeping sticky air back and forth around the room, there is no shortage of my lust for the label's wintery wears - 

everything delicate and doll-like.

a recipe for flaky biscuits because it seems that today is a little crummy. nothing a savoury biccie with a smear of jam can't fix, right?! not when dunked into a mug full of feelings of warmth.

psst! if like me you intend to spend this valentine's eve tucked under the cover with a book and a glass of red (to be fair to the theme of flushed cheeks and fluttering eyelids) may i suggest a too-good-to-put-down (for love and other stuff) read? i promise its a page-turner!? all about a heartbroken lassie and the meaning of those pretty posies we 'umm' and 'uhh' over at the supermarket flower stand Vanessa Diffenbaugh's, The Language of Flowers is well worthy of a (single) girls night in. add a bag of caramel centred choccies to your shopping trolley and put on your granny panties and you'll be smitten! sending you a bunch of fuchsia: humble love.

 young ladies will be young ladies and these detachable butterfly collars (in the most favourable prints) have me yearning for something pretty. the photo shoot for this sweet collection, Mother is very much to be admired. it seems i might just have to muster up the courage and ask for a raise in my 'laundry help' allowance. i'm also particularly partial to the crafters aprons. oh bother!

iron press and double-knot

utterly devoted to marshmallow shakes, madeline skirts and kinfolk magazine Australian photographer Vanessa Jackman knows a little something about something, yes indeedy. i smiled the whole Sunday after we met here. if her eye for style is anything to go by playing dress ups will soon be all about the unexpected love affair coupling the shirt + sneaker. i'm very much into the thought of a stiff collared blouse softly tucked away under a pinny, laces loosely looped around each other and then again for good measure.

an almost sister-in-law

no not me, but my dear friend Mim. isn't she lucky! not only does she have an excuse for a new family album but more importantly a sister to link arms with. all our talk of a finding a simple shift frock to pair with some one-buckle sandals had me scrolling over these swoonful wedding snaps again and again and once more. everything about a gathering of the gang at home to toast to the idea of love wins my affection. small and secretive, dancing in the dining room, mini scroll like foods served on napkins, bloody marys in hand. and i'm not even the almost sister-in-law. you can sigh over more snaps from the 'album' above at photographer Kristen Marie's wondrous site. wedding bells are ringing.

loook!! over here, up-up, above!! i stitched this sweet as sherbet coloured case. isn't it just dear? too dear to pop into your bag out of sight. i'm quite partial to keeping it within sticky fingertips reach at all times. ooh, and the bits and bobbles it can carry (coins, candy, cosmetics, candy). do you fancy a tutorial on how to sew up a (lolly) bag for yourself and a friend? i'm almost certain my housemate won't mind a bit sharing her thread and machine ways with you and your belongings. in fact, bribe her with some toffee and she'll be as good as gumdrop jellies!!
