september.

day 29. reading katherine mansfield's, the doll's house. spooning salted caramel and white chocolate gelato from messina. saving silvers for a bunny bag to match my cat-face clutch. humming along to the paper kites's new ep, young north. and tomorrow, the last day of the month...
feeling ill from too-too-many raw brownies.

my favourite place.

nothing is nicer than being surrounded by your bits and belongings tucked away in your own secret space. it saddens me that in a little less than a week i will no longer come home to my bedroom with its pink streamer-like curtains and old rickety furniture balancing leaning books and ceramic critters. inspired by silly, joyful dreams Lucky Boy Sunday and their collection of softies and wooden wonders are at the top of my 'new room' wish list. this hanging pot is beary close behind, as are these pretty paper bowls sweet for housing trinkets. of course my 'new' towering bed will need 'new' shoes (pretty pegs) and it is always fun to play in overalls speckled in paint after a trip to Ikea. don't believe me? be sure to visit Emily over at The Sweet Beast. oh! and i will need a 'new' chair to place somewhere in the corner. sigh! there really is no place like home...

count me in

YA-NE-SEN a Go Go,
directed and animated by Shishi Yamazaki.

tonite the girlies and i are going for a bit of a boogie. we have the fever! perhaps a visit past Chinatown on the way home is in order?! it is after-all too easy to be lured by its bright lights and hide-and-seek lanes. plus, one of my dance partners is on an 'eat rice wrapped in seaweed and stuffed with cucumber' diet. when i say diet i really mean pursuit. Chinatown is a Go Go!! soy sauce and wasabi me please!

i am very particular so that doesn't help!

i can't go past a pair of nice clogs, especially not ones as nice-on-the-eyes as these from Loeffler Randall's spring collection. i'm seeing spots and soft shades of pink. hmmm... how very jessie!!

she's leaving home (again).

don't think for a minnie i have forgotten about this little place we share together, oh no not at all! in fact my tummy has been in twists and knots since we last spoke just thinking about my lack of existence. turns out i've been rather tied up with lots of ric-rac these past few weeks. not an excuse but more of an explanation. time to spill the secret... so it seems she's leaving home (again). yep! it is so long, farewell Melbourne-town and how do you do Sydney? why oh why? well. i've found myself a small spot among the team of magazine Cosmopolitan Bride. think pretty veils and charming charms and baby-breath bouquets! i can't say i am not the tiniest bit overwhelmed. but i can promise to post more soon. pinkie swear. jessie xx

no longer at this address

my housemate rushed up the flight of stairs that separates her room from mine this noon delivering good news - post. and from a certain someone special. i immediately stopped in my tracks and got out a notebook to return the pleasure of pen-to-paper. placing the ready to send envelope on my drawer i noticed something a little canny. my perfume was begging me to change my addressee's details. keep an eye out miss (dior) cherrie the postman has a small something in his mailbag for you. now don't be confused and stamp it 'return to sender' i may have intentionally removed a double consonant from your name. oh the joys of jotted jargon on ruled lines! (do excuse the pink photographic haze, my curtains droop from the ceiling illuminating a fairy floss glow). jessie x

THE DREAMWARP SOCIETY: VOTE FOR ME

Model: Felicity Curnow, Photographer: Bridgette Kokkinos, Stylist: Jessie Aylmore

hello lovelie readers. it's not often that I beg and plead with you for a little favour but it seems fitting this one occasion. as we all know breaking into the creative industry (any industry for that matter) is somewhat harder than it should be! but what's a girl to do when she can't help but have a dream in her heart? try her luck that's what!

for those of you who haven't heard Mimco are running a "style our next campaign" competition based on their current season's vision, The Dreamwarp Society. calling all up-and-coming fashion bloggers the competition offers entrants the opportunity to be crowned the assistant stylist on location for The Dreamwarp Society: Season 2 photo shoot.

here's the deal - the winner will be chosen based on the creative image sporting the most votes at the end of the month as picked by the public. hence, if you would please forget all previous warnings this once and put all your eggs (votes) into one basket (that basket being mine) i would be forever grateful. simply click on my image as viewed above and then double click 'like'. i won't sleep soundly until all votes are collected and tallied, so until then pretty pretty please... vote, vote, vote!!  Jessie xx
p.s. share this shout-out with a friend and my world will be nothing but blue skies.

flaky biscuits

a recipe for flaky biscuits because it seems that today is a little crummy. nothing a savoury biccie with a smear of jam can't fix, right?! not when dunked into a mug full of feelings of warmth.

flowers are the things we know

psst! if like me you intend to spend this valentine's eve tucked under the cover with a book and a glass of red (to be fair to the theme of flushed cheeks and fluttering eyelids) may i suggest a too-good-to-put-down (for love and other stuff) read? i promise its a page-turner!? all about a heartbroken lassie and the meaning of those pretty posies we 'umm' and 'uhh' over at the supermarket flower stand Vanessa Diffenbaugh's, The Language of Flowers is well worthy of a (single) girls night in. add a bag of caramel centred choccies to your shopping trolley and put on your granny panties and you'll be smitten! sending you a bunch of fuchsia: humble love.

an almost sister-in-law

no not me, but my dear friend Mim. isn't she lucky! not only does she have an excuse for a new family album but more importantly a sister to link arms with. all our talk of a finding a simple shift frock to pair with some one-buckle sandals had me scrolling over these swoonful wedding snaps again and again and once more. everything about a gathering of the gang at home to toast to the idea of love wins my affection. small and secretive, dancing in the dining room, mini scroll like foods served on napkins, bloody marys in hand. and i'm not even the almost sister-in-law. you can sigh over more snaps from the 'album' above at photographer Kristen Marie's wondrous site. wedding bells are ringing.
ding-dong-ding-ding-dong...
