summer departing

fingers knicked from quickly turning page after page of The Hunger Games, i can't help but think heroines Katniss and Gale would down milky cups of hot chai cider with their stew and cheese topped buns amongst the forbidden woods that border district twelve. thank-you Erin Gleeson of The Forest Feast for allowing me to toast snuggled in flannelette, steaming mug on my dresser to such a bed-summoning read.

flowers are the things we know

psst! if like me you intend to spend this valentine's eve tucked under the cover with a book and a glass of red (to be fair to the theme of flushed cheeks and fluttering eyelids) may i suggest a too-good-to-put-down (for love and other stuff) read? i promise its a page-turner!? all about a heartbroken lassie and the meaning of those pretty posies we 'umm' and 'uhh' over at the supermarket flower stand Vanessa Diffenbaugh's, The Language of Flowers is well worthy of a (single) girls night in. add a bag of caramel centred choccies to your shopping trolley and put on your granny panties and you'll be smitten! sending you a bunch of fuchsia: humble love.

let it be beautiful...

is a whimsy book project by Elizabeth Barker and Laura Jane Faulds. like dreamers do, the creative two intend to rewrite EVERY Beatles song as a small short story. the first of the bunch are a sneaky peep preview and can be delivered to your door to be propped on your book shelf here. doggy-eared and fudgy fingerprinted i'm sure. you know what they (or should) say, an extra special zine + cheap and cheery wine = a hard day's night.

my cousin betty

dear readers, have you met betty? she's all the way from england. betty road tests red lippy, boils  breakfast brews, glaces fruits, shares style tips and tricks, dabbles in handicraft hobbies and for the first time she's in print!! she really is the nicest kind of magazine. make issue three your own here. oh, and it goes (almost) without saying, welcome to the family.  jessie x x

just in time.

this little gem might not arrive in time to slip under the tree (it is christmas eve after all) but it's sure to be a must add to your boxing day sales shopping basket. kinfolk volume two is the perfect way to enter 2012 insprired, excitable and all warm on the inside. i'll be grabbing two copies of the magazine here before heading towards the checkout, one for me and the other..?! up top is a short but sweet preview of what you can count on this issue round and...? oh, and very merry happy holiday wishes to you all(kin)d folk!! its time to dim the lights. love love jessie x x
